Title: Radiation-hydrodynamical model atmospheres across the
Hertzsprund-Russell diagram
Abstract:
We give an overview of the end-to-end process from constructing
hydrodynamical model atmospheres to finally obtaining predictions of their
spectroscopic properties. Specifically, we present the basics of the
hydrodynamical as well as radiative transfer solver in the 3D atmosphere code
CO5BOLD, together with the associated spectral synthesis package Linfor3D.
Spectral line-profiles and line-shifts are important outcomes. We briefly
discuss applications in stellar abundance work, and study of the structure of
red giant stars.
